White Fillings

Composite Resin Restorations

“Resinas” as we call them in spanish are also referred to as fillings, or white fillings. This material is very useful and versatile in repairing a wide variety of issues. Resinas can be used for minor reshaping of the teeth, sometimes referred to as “composite bonding” and also known y other terms depending on the dentist and their chosen lingo.

While some repairs can be possible, we need to also recognize the limitations of what composite bonding, or white fillings can accomplish. Here are a few examples of situations where white filling can be used.

This case includes a combination of a few things that came together nicely in the end. One crown was placed on the front tooth that was broken, and the other teeth had cosmetic shaping using composite resin material. Prior to applying the composite resin, we performed a good cleaning, whitening, and allowed some time prior to applying the “resinas” in order to match the color well.

In this case, a patient presented with a persistent pain albeit light, around this tooth. There was no time to replace the crown because of his personal travel plans, however the discomfort was not something he could handle on a daily basis.

The decision was made to perform a temporary repair with composite resin until such time that he was available long enough to tackle the removal of the gold crown, and replace with a zirconia crown.
